Presidents Message

August 21, 2023

I am very proud to represent such a fantastic club within such an amazing global network of 1.4 million leaders.

The Summerside Club has a proud history of serving our community and supporting international projects. Rotary’s message of service above self has never been so important for both our local and global communities. The Summerside Club and Rotary International are well positioned to champion sustainable projects, transform communities, and identify, recruit, and connect people of action within the region.
Fellowship, sense of belonging and equity create strong clubs and solid communities. We all have various reasons for joining Rotary; however, we all have the same responsibility for spreading the rotary message. Be ambassadors for our club, Rotary International, and work at spreading this year’s message of peace and hope from RI President Gordon McInally.

Our world and local community continue to change; despite that change, Rotary values remain constant. For 2023-2024, I envision a welcoming club, friendly faces, and impactful initiatives. In the coming year, it is imperative that we revisit our most recent strategic plan and guarantee our objectives resonate with upcoming members and our future leaders. I am fortunate to be stepping into a club with a healthy financial position, pleasing club atmosphere and well-engaged members. Let’s keep building on this by ensuring we attract the next generation of people of action, establish channels to connect to new residents and new Canadians. It will be important that we get involved on issues such as protecting the environment, addressing mental health and wellness, and leveraging technology to more effectively communicate and collaborate with club members, district members and our global leaders.

The Summerside Club has been instrumental in creating two of our city’s most prized assets. We must continue to form models where these assets are positioned to grow and expand service in a sustainable manner. Both Rotary Park and Inspire Learning Centre present significant opportunities for the club, but we must also be aware of the resources and management expertise needed to operate these assets at a level which reflects positively on the Club.

My exposure to Rotary is still very fresh having joined the club in 2018. I will need to lean in on the wisdom of our past leaders and long-term members for ideas, input and guidance on what future success looks like. I do not take our rich history and past success for granted. Future success will require people of action and a new generation of people of action to keep our club imaginative, inclusive, and impactful.
2023 is our 80th year. We have a lot to celebrate and more delightful work to ensure our club is stable into the future. My message to members for 2023-2024 is to be creative, innovative, and engaged ambassadors for our club.

Sincerely
Chad Mann
Rotary Club of Summerside President
