2009 Easter Seals Ambassador

A 10-year-old from Alberton known for his quick smile and love of hockey will be the ambassador of the Easter Seals Campaign for 2009.  Jordon Cotton, a Grade 4 student at Alberton Consolidated Elementary School, is the son of Angela and Paul Cotton and brother of 12-year-old Amber and eight-year old Christopher.

Jordon, who has cerebral palsy and travels either with a wheelchair or a walker, is a huge hockey fan and especially likes the Toronto Maple Leafs.    "My motto is 'Shoot for your dreams.' I am very proud to be the Easter Seals Ambassador," said Jordon.

He will travel across P.E.I., visiting schools during the annual Tim Horton's Easter Seals School Tour scheduled for six days in April, and also take part in the Easter Beef Show and Sale. 
He will be a special guest on the 2009 Easter Seals Telethon, set to broadcast live from Confederation Centre of the Arts at a new time slot, on Sunday, March 1, from 2-5 p.m.

The Easter Seals Campaign is a franchised project of the Charlottetown Rotary Club, and supported by Rotary clubs in Summerside and Montague.  A direct mail campaign, Tim Horton's Ambassador's School Tour, a live telethon on CBC Television, the paper egg campaign and other fundraising initiatives enable Easter Seals to help provide programs and equipment for people with disabilities on Prince Edward Island.

The P.E.I. Easter Seals Society has provided financial assistance to support programs at P.E.I. Cerebral Palsy Association, Camp Gencheff, Stars for Life for Autism P.E.I. Rehabilitation Council, Joy Riders, CADS-PEI (disabled skiers association) and many other worthy organizations.
